Mamalicious wishlist

Most of all, I miss wearing dresses.

+MAMALICIOUS has some affordable, stylish dresses, tops, and lingerie for nursing mums. They have really nice jeans too, for that inbetween phase I seem to be in. Too skinny for my maternity jeans; too fat for my pre-pregnancy jeans. New mum problems.

Nursing clothes on Etsy

I usually go to +Etsy for vintage but there is not much in the way of nursing clothes. There is, however, a great deal of beautiful handmade clothes created specifically for breastfeeding moms. I honestly didn't realize how much of my wardrobe wasn't breastfeeding compatible. You need easy access to the boob. Most of the dresses that I own would have to come off completely, and I can't strip every time HAM gets hungry. These sellers have some really creative clothes that are stylish AND functional.

THE dress: Keungzai

This is THE nursing dress for me. The one. My soul mate in dress form. Come here gorgeous...

+Keungzai  has other nice things too. They are amazing with drapery and flattering the curvy, maternal figure.

37 weeks

Today Ham is the length of a stalk of Swiss chard.

The cardigan and shoes are vintage finds from +Etsy and the dress is from +Target.

Today is special because if I went into labor they wouldn't try to stop it. Full term baby! And boy do I feel it. The midwife tells me that the baby's head is now "engaged in my pelvis" which means: 1) this baby is going to be born soonish 2) I am extra uncomfortable.

I have A LOT of cleaning to do before Ham arrives and the pilgrimage of family members begins. I ordered chairs yesterday from +Homebase so that they'll actually have somewhere to sit. My husband and I haven't properly had visitors since we moved into our new place. Probably because we only have a couch. NO LONGER! I can't wait to post pictures after my cleaning fest.

New season: Topshop maternity

I am really liking the new season at +Topshop maternity. There are some pieces with great texture as well as classic well tailored items.

Formal blouse £36 The cut and drapery of this top are so chic and flawless.
Gingham leggings £28 I adore gingham! Pretty much need these.
Leopard denim dress £38 Great texture and distressing on this dress.
Daisy top £25 The daisy mesh is so cute and adds interest.
Red plaid £29 Comfortable, simple, and stylish.
Daisy dress £42 Classic day dress. Do you think it will make spring come any quicker?
Plaid leggings £25 Yet another pair of patterned leggings that I covet.
Tailored blazer £48 An absolute essential in cold weather.

Keep it cozy

Obviously I have a thing for sweater dresses.

What's not to love? Who doesn't like to wear a dress and be warm?! Those are just the ones I can still wear; I have a bit of an obsession. Living in a place that is cold and damp most of the year, a sweater dress has kind of become my uniform. I wouldn't know what to do if I ever moved some place sunny.

There are some great sweater dresses in the shops this winter season. You might even be able to catch some of them at marked down prices for the January sales!
Cable knit tunic, £110 £77 by Blossom
Ladder stitch jumper, £34 by +Topshop
Striped tunic, £14.99 by +New Look
Stripe navy and ruby £28  by Heavenly Bump
Studded sleeve dress £41.48 by +MAMALICIOUS
Kingsley jumper £115 £80 by +Isabella Oliver

36 weeks

Today Ham is the size of a honeydew melon. Woah.

(Happy birthday Mr Stardust)

I've had my first craving: mineral water. I would drink the stuff before I was pregnant but never really had much of an opinion about it. Now I want it, crave it, need it.

Other than that I am just hanging around feeling enormous and uncomfortable. Ham is still kicking all day long; is there a point where the amount of kicking is too much? I wore this to go get my blood drawn. Mostly I hang around in old t shirts that used to be baggy and sweatpants unless I have to go somewhere. It's a good thing I'm not back home in that polar vortex or I would never leave the house.

The dress and shoes are vintage, the tights are from Primark. The headband is home made.

The SUPER sales!

I like to shop the boxing day sales for deals on expensive or designer pieces while stocks last. I shop the January sales for big markdowns. Everything here is 50% off or more. The selection is more limited, they don't always have all the sizes, but if you're lucky you can bag a real bargain.

Lounge wear

Real talk. THIS is a pregnant woman in her natural state:

+New Look has some cute maternity sets. My body can never decide how hot or cold it's going to be so it helps to have options.

+Free People have some amazing lounge wear in their intimates section. A nightie might just be the best investment you make. They are great for delivery and the frequent bathroom trips.

Here are some other bits. I covet these trousers; they look so comfy!
Right now, since I am practically 9 months pregnant, I am starting to think about what I can buy now that will be easy for nursing. The sweatshirt and nightie are made for just that.

Outfit: New Years Eve

The dress and shawl sweater are vintage. The shoes and tights are from +Target.

The woman that cuts my hair says it looks like the wispy bits around my face are new growth, not breakage. That's good news I guess...but I feel like my hair most often makes me look ridiculous. I was happy to find this hair style tip from a +Free People blog post. I used my homemade headband and tucked it in just like they say.

It's been a really mild winter. Coming from Illinois, it feels strange to walk around in the sunshine during the holidays. I am so excited to bring in the new year, 2013 was a good one and the next will bring a lot of new, well, everything. My friends are throwing a party and they got me some nonalcoholic wine!!!

Cheers!

The sales: Keungzai

What have we got here? Simple but edgy and unique maternity clothing from the +Keungzai sale rack. They have great colors and a way of draping pregnant curves that doesn't emphasize the largest one and make you look like a balloon. Magic. Have a look through their sale section and bag a bargain. A lot of what they offer is a real investment, as it can keep you stylish through nursing as well, like the layered dress.

The sales: Tiffany Rose

+Tiffany Rose offers designer maternity wear. If you want to make a statement, stop the show, be the bell of the ball, and all that jazz then this is your label. It's a favorite of Michelle Heaton, she's been spotted at events looking fabulous in their dresses multiple times. They also do maternity wedding dresses and glamorous gowns. Their sale, at the moment, is excellent. Check it out:

The sales: Mamalicious

Y'all know that +MAMALICIOUS is one of my favorite maternity lines. This designer has really cool trendy designs for pregnant women as well as simple well tailored basics. They are running a particularly great sale right not, up to 70% off!

The sales: Blossom mother & child

+Blossom Mother & Child Ltd is a wonderful boutique with designer maternity. What better place to shop the Boxing day sales? You can get stunning expensive pieces at a reduced rate and save yourself hundreds.
You know how sometimes you go shopping and everything you buy is the same color palette? Well, that happened. Anyways, here's my picks of their post Christmas sale:

The sales: Seraphine

+Seraphine Maternity was apparently a favorite of the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton. There are pictures of her wearing a variation of this knot front dress. I can see why. They really have a beautiful, tasteful line. There is a huge selection of sale items; these are some of my favorites. This middle luxe dress: what a bargain! It's a perfect party dress just in time for, cough, New Years!!!

The sales: Micheal Stars maternity

Guess what...Michael Stars does great maternity basics and they're running a sale! It's a tiered sale so it applies to everything. The more you spend, the more you save. Hurry, it ends January 1st!

Let's start with the dress. I love this dress. The shape is really flattering, and this material is just awesome. I don't know about you but I run pretty hot blooded these days so this looks like the perfect layering piece. Plus, It will still look stylish post pregnancy/nursing!

Shine Dress, £76

They also have some really nice basic maternity tops. The first one has a saucy neckline and would be really good for maternity and nursing. Like most of what +Michael Stars, Inc. makes, the other two look like great layering pieces.
Supima, $62
Soho stripe, $68
Scoop neck, $62

French maternity

I stumbled upon this French maternity line, Envie de Fraises. It's so effortless. They've got a lot of basics with stylish twists.

Grey dress, €39.99

The tunic, belt, and legging set looks especially cool and versatile. I've never looked good in a drop waist but I was pretty pleased with my attempt. I didn't exactly have a belt, so I used an old scarf. None of my old belts fit anymore.

Lingerie is what the french do best and this site has some gorgeous maternity sets.

Maternity/nursing nightgown €29.99

Outfits from Next maternity

If you're looking for something to wear to the office then +Next is the place to find professional, well tailored, maternity. I, however, am not looking for that. Count my lucky stars; I have been self employed most of my life and haven't had to wear pantyhose in years. There is still something for everyone in this collection be it casual, trendy, or formal evening wear. It might surprise you.

Long blouse, £30
Black drop earrings, £7.50
Black necklace, £14
